Camellia 'Donation'
|
| Camellia 'Donation' is a x. williamsii hybrid.
These hybrids are very welcome in the Pacific Northwest, since the flowers
fall off cleanly, unlike most of the Camellia japonica types. This
particular plant is located near the corner of the house and was planted
by Ed Dunn most likely in the mid to late 1950's. Flowers each spring starting
in mid to late March, going into April. Very adaptable to sun and shade,
the x. williamsii types flower much more heavily in shadier locations
than Camellia sasanqua. Also, all camellias (when established) take
very well to pruning.
