Erythronium revolutum is probably the signature plant of the Dunn Gardens, excluding the rhododendrons that Ed loved. Native to coastal areas from northern California up into British Columbia, this plant has reseeded vigorously in the gardens. The leaf patterning ranges from plain green to heavy mottling of dark brown on green. All erythronium emerge early and by late May/June are dying down for the season. These bulbs have coexisted with Cyclamen hederifolium beautifully in the garden, as the cyclamen have died down by the time the erythronium emerge, and the new leaves of the cyclamen unfurl in August-long after the foliage of the erythroniums have shriveled up.
