Over the years, the color selections of this plant have greatly improved. Commonly known as ‘Lenten Rose’ (how does it look like a rose?), one can easily get three months worth of flowers. Best in part sun, with some supplemental watering these plants can live for many years. Too deep of shade will result in stunted plants, with few to no flowers. All day blazing sun won’t kill them, but the plants will look sunburned and stunted, but often will flower profusely. As the flowers emerge, we cut the away the obscuring foliage, leaving an outer ‘ruff’, as the plant benefits from having some foliage left. If black fungal spotting occurs on the leaves, make certain to cut off/dispose.
