Rhododendron 'Loderi' is an older variety, planted by Ed Dunn most likely in the mid to late 1950's. So far this plant has resisted the new powdery mildew disease, which has affected many plants in the garden. Rhododendrons were a major love of Ed's, and he served as president of the American Rhododendron Society at one point. The garden here has a major display of rhody color from April through late May.
