Camellia 'Spring Mist' was found on the grounds of the Los Angeles County Arboretum. This hybrid of C. lutchuensis is hardy in the maritime Northwest. A smaller growing camellia, this plant is behind Ed's house, in one of the beds next to the new terrace. Spring blooming, the flowers fall off easily, unlike some of the other camellia cultivars. This plant will be shaped in the future to keep it within scale. Camellias respond very well to pruning once established. We prune in the spring, just after flowering has ceased. This also applies to C. sasanqua (a fall bloomer).
