Corydalis flexuosa is one plant that can offer true blue flowers. There are quite a few forms on the market nowadays, with some having purplish flowers and one form with yellow/chartreuse foliage. This springtime bloomer has delicate foliage, and if in a drier setting, will die down for the summer months. We have seen it stay in leaf all summer, but only with rich soil and abundant moisture. At the gardens we get several months of flowering and allow for it to die down. A pair of scissors will cut the foliage off cleanly and when the fall rains start new short foliage will emerge and stay through a mild winter. This plant benefits from being divided every few years.
