We added the Lysichiton camtschatcensis to our existing native yellow ones, in hopes of getting a hybrid. There are now seedlings, though we will have to wait another two to three years before they flower. The hybrid has a larger flower of soft creamy yellow. L. camtschatcensis is native to northern Japan into Russia, growing in wet areas. The flowers are supposed to be sweetly scented, but we have been too busy to kneel down and see if that is true. The site for our plants is damp, but not ideal, so they will not get as large as they could in other gardens.
