Located on the south side of the garage, this large shrub/small tree flowers off and on for several months. Initially, there is a larger flush of lightly fragrant flowers (not all open simultaneously). After the main flowering has occurred, a smattering of buds will continue to unfurl, for up to two months. Ideally this tree would be sited elsewhere, as invariably some of the leaves scorch on our few hot days. Some supplemental watering is in order, as this tree resents drying out. Autumn color is so-so, and occasionally one will get fruit set (pinky-red funkily shaped pods), that are oddly fabulous.
