Maianthemum dilatatum, also known as M. kamtschaticum, is one of our native ground covers. One common name is 'False Lily of the Valley'. Herbaceous, this plant emerges each spring in an ever widening patch. Creeping underground by rhizomes, this plant, if sited in a partially shaded setting with a not too dry of soil, will happily creep about. Dense, low leaves keep most other plants from either growing or germinating, if the site is well established. Flowers are followed by red translucent fruit that appears in late summer/fall.
