AKA, 'Molly the Witch'-a real springtime gem. Native to deciduous woods of the Caucasus Mountains, this peony needs dappled light to do best. While the flowers are truly fleeting, the foliage is attractive and come early autumn, the seed pods will have split open. Red (infertile) and blue (fertile) fruit, jewel like, wait to be eaten by animals. We now have seedlings popping up here and there, always a welcome sight.
