Rhododendron oreotrephes originates in China and is planted underneath the Magnolia sargentiana 'Robusta', south of Ed's house. The plant in our garden is semi-evergreen, meaning that it never keeps a large amount of foliage. Blueish green in color, and fragrant, Rh. oreotrephes is a nice plant for the larger garden. May blooming, this is a plant that Ed first planted probably back in the 1960's.
