Viola glabella (Stream violet) is one of our native violets. The range extends into Northeast Asia. This violet thrives in many garden conditions/settings. Here at the gardens it is planted in fairly deep summer shade. Quick to settle in and grow, be careful of siting. The seeds of this plant are very fecund and one can end up with many plants in a short time. We don't consider it a 'weed', but if one has a small garden, it might be best to keep a very careful eye on it. This violet seems resistant to most diseases and bugs and requires very little upkeep.
