Adiantum pedatum
|
| Adiantum pedatum, commonly known as the maidenhair
fern, has thrived in Ed's garden for many years. The largest clump is located
near the upper pond, in a shaded spot. This elegant fern is native both
to North America and parts of Eastern Asia. Deciduous, it dies down to the
ground in the late fall. When established the new growth can reach eighteen
to twenty-four inches in height. Maidenhair fern is a slower clumper and
one doesn't need to worry about it growing out of scale with its neighbors.
Be careful of siting it where rambunctious children or dogs veer out of
control!
