Camellia 'Tama Ikari'
|
| Camellia 'Tama
Ikari' is a japonica type that we like, due to the fact that the flowers
don't cling on after blooming, unlike many of the old fashioned varieties.
A light shaking is all that is needed to knock the spent flowers off. This
plant doesn't flower heavily for us in the garden, since it gets quite a
bit of afternoon shade. For heaviest bud set, plant C. japonica in
a sunnier location. Camellia x. williamsii types flower better in
shaded conditions which many Northwest gardens have.
