Rhododendron oreotrephes
Rhododendron oreotrephes. Photographed by Michelle Margroff. Copyright 2002. All rights reserved.
Rhododendron oreotrephes originates in China and is planted underneath the Magnolia sargentiana 'Robusta', south of Ed's house. The plant in our garden is semi-evergreen, meaning that it never keeps a large amount of foliage. Blueish green in color, and fragrant, Rh. oreotrephes is a nice plant for the larger garden. May blooming, this is a plant that Ed first planted probably back in the 1960's.
