Trillium erectum
|
| Trillium erectum
is native in the Appalachian Mountains, from North Carolina upward into
Canada. This species has many variations due to its wide geographic area.
Another trillium that Ed collected many years ago, and one that we have
been dividing to bulk up numbers. T. erectum flowers in early to
mid-spring along with our native trillium (Trillium ovatum).
We have been planting Cyclamen hederifolium around some of the various
trilliums to act as a marker, since the trilliums die down early in the
fall as the cyclamen leaves emerge, thus helping to mark the area and prevent
the new growing points of the trilliums from being stepped on.
