Astrantia major
|
| Astrantia major was given
the common name 'Masterwort', which frankly sounds unattractive. Very vigorous
in the Pacific Northwest, this plant will readily seed in. In fact it seeds
in enough that when we remember to, we will deadhead it. The reddish form
is a seedling from a 'Rubra' strain. These plants do best in not too light
of soil, especially if it is not well irrigated in the summer. Very perennial,
these plants are mostly in the area between Ed's perennial border and the
tennis court beds.
